“You Are So Beautiful” — Jessica Sanchez (Top 4!)

Update (May 3, 2012) – Jessica Sanchez is safe this week and is now in the top 4!  Hollie and Skylar were in the bottom two, with Skylar getting the least votes.  Go Jessica!  I can almost feel it now.

jessica sanchezHollywood, CA (May 2, 2012) – The bar is being set higher and higher each week leading to the finals of American Idol season 11.  This week, there were two rounds, each contestant performing three times — two solos and once with a group.  The first round featured Motown songs, and ‘British invasion’ songs on the second.  Jessica Sanchez, wearing a strikingly sexier outfit than I have ever seen her wear on the show, sang Tina Turner’s ‘Proud Mary’.  Idol judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler both loved the performance, but Randy Jackson said her performance was ‘barely OK’ which did not sit well Top the studio audience.

On the second round however, all I can say is wow.  Jessica delivered what I think was the best performance of the night, and maybe one of the best performances of the entire competition.  She sang Joe Cocker’s “You are so beautiful” that left all three judges and the audience in awe.  Steven Tyler said that she’ll “be number one, girl” and Jennifer said it reminded her of when Jessica sang “I will always love you” and how it captivated the entire audience, in reference to a previous episode when Jessica sang the Whitney Houston classic.  Randy said that if Jessica continues to tap into the feeling like she just did, she’s “off to the races”, and said round one was “I don’t know, whatever, whatever” but round two “this girl’s on top of the leader board now”.

Looks like another good week for Jessica Sanchez.  Let’s get up and vote!
