Who wouldn’t be proud to be a Filipino? Glaring natural resources as well as human resources keeps the country’s star glowing.
As a young blogger, I can see immediate changes in our society. In spite of the moves done by the Philippine government, poverty is still one of the hindrances the country’s economic rise.
Manila was once declared as an open city during the World War times to prevent it from being ruined due to the bloody conflict of different countries meaning that the place will remain safe for trading, commercial enterprise, and also the people living in. But what word can describe the city now? It is true that Manila is the capital city of the Philippines but lots of street children and aged citizens live in places people should not be living in such as squatter areas found under bridges, river banks, and even in the streets.
Many presidents, however, have finished long years in service but only few have shown concern to the Filipino people. Today’s present president, PNoy (Benigno Aquino III), son of the late President Cory Aquino, faces different issues in our country. Reproductive Health issues, rising number of jobless Filipinos, poverty, etc.
As of today, 90 000 000 people compose the population of the Philippines. With this number, can the president rule us all? People should not always throw the problems and consequences to government officials instead of facing it. If only Filipinos would develop unity despite diversity, Philippines might now be one of the productive countries in the world.
Hesitations aside, there are many tourist spots in the country including Boracay, numerous waterfalls, the Banaue Rice Terraces, hot springs, other beaches, and many more. Actually, due to the growing number of newly discovered and developed natural resources in the Philippines, job openings are done which gives new hope to Filipino citizens.
Filipinos are given by God the chance to live in a paradise such as the Philippines. If we only know how to develop it and care for each other, everyone must be equal in living. There might be no corruption, killing, other kinds of crime and ‘brain drain.’
I could only imagine our country living with the past. It’s just simple, yet really the best place a person would choose to live in.
