Loving Your Job

Merong nakapagsabi noon na isang kilalang doktor, “You have to work hard, because the work is hard.”. Because if you love your work, it will not be a work for you anymore. Enjoy it. Be happy.”

Bukas.. panibagong araw, panibagong adventure… 🙂

  1. I can easily relate to they joy you find in your work. I have a feeling na believer ka dajhil sa ginagawa mo ang trabajo not just to get men’s approval but God’s too. I’m already 65 years old and should already retire with a pension from the US government and my work but I don’t want to retire because I just love this job so much. In fact, I’m afraid that if I retire, I’ll die in no time at all because my work gives me meaning and a reason to live. You might ask what I do that gives me joy. You might also probably think that I am earning so much money and that what motivates me to work harder. It’s farther from the truth. Actually I’m directing a ministry that helps foreign students have a more pleasant and worthwhile life while they are studying here in the US and I have been doing this work for more than 40 years now and there’s no stopping to it. I’m a big part of their emotional, social, and spiritual lives kaya I feel like an artists sculpting young people’s lives and make them look and feel wonderful. And because I have been in charge of my time, I have more time for my family. Isa pa every weekend my big house is full of smart college students from more than 25 countries. I cook Filipino food (adobo and inasal) and they just love it. It’s like having a party every week. How can I not love this job. Even my kids love my job because they are also part of it and I spent so much time with them when they were growing up. Anyway, marami na akong nasabi. Through this job I found my dream girl and married her 27 years ago. She was one of my student volunteers kaya hindi na kailagang manligao dahil kasama na sa job ko. My advise for young people is to find a job that you are really passionate about and one that you truly enjoy and matches your gifts. Don’t just work for money in a job where you will not have time to spend it anyway. Money will come later. And choose a job that will give you time to spend with family and friends. And mostly, let God choose the job for you. He know you more than you know yourself because he made you and have wonderful plans for you.

    • im inspired by your story. Its true that spending our time with our family is better than anything in this world. its also true that if we love our job, nothing can go wrong. bonus na lang if malaki ang kita:)
