Have you ever considered of letting go? Will you feel lost when you do? or will you feel accomplished knowing you held on and survived?
Truth of the matter is, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot move forward.
That is a fact and the bitter reality of life.
Have you ever heard of a monkey trap?
Monkeys are very agile creatures. It is near impossible to catch them. So how would you catch such agility? Hunters designed a monkey trap based on the monkey’s behavior itself.
Hunters would use Bamboo, Jars or even Fruit (coconut) with a hole a bit bigger than the monkey’s hand. They then place fruit inside of it to lure the monkeys in.
When the monkey see this it will reach inside and grab the food. As the monkey holds on to the fruit inside its hand balled into a fist with the fruit in it. The monkey then pull back only to realize that its hand is stuck inside. No matter how hard it tries, the monkey can’t pull its hand out.
There’s only one thing to do to escape but despite possessing the means to, the monkey won’t let go hanging on to the food inside. All the monkey need to do was to let go, but the greedy monkey won’t do it clinging to what it thought would make it happy and then, it’s game over!
Some of us think holding on makes us strong, but sometimes it is letting go. Remember that letting go doesn’t make you weak, it only means you are brave enough to let go.
Forget what hurt you but never forget what it taught you. Remember that we can’t be afraid of change, never be. You may feel very secure in your current pond, but if you never go out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, or a sea. Holding onto something that is good for you now, may be the very reason why you don’t have something better. Live life, take chances. Do not become a Monkey!
