Get Up and Vote for Jessica Sanchez on American Idol

UPDATE  (April 26, 2012):  After a nationwide vote of 58 million, Jessica Sanchez is safe!  She was in the top 3.  The bottom three this week was Hollie, Skylar and Elise.   Elise was voted off the competition.  Good luck Jessica!

April 25, 2012 – Jessica Sanchez just delivered an emotional rendition of “Dance with my Father”, originally recorded my Luther Vandross.  She dedicated the song to her father who is a member of the U.S. Armed Forces, about to be deployed to Singapore.

The performance was one of the best of the night and American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez said that it was the best she has ever heard someone ever performed the song.  Randy Jackson said “you are so truly amazing to me…everytime you get up and sing, you know what’s wrong with it? — absolutely nothing!”.

The first part of the show featured popular anthems by legendary rock group Queen.  Jessica sang the classic “Bohemian Rhapsody” which I think was good but was a little lackluster compared to her second song.

If Jessica survives the cut tomorrow night, it will be the only time someone of Filipino ancestry (and of Asian descent for that matter) to break into the top five of American Idol since Filipina-Hawaiian Jasmine Trias on American Idol’s season 3.

Good luck, Jessica… and to you reading this, if you’re capable of voting, do it now.
