The wealthiest man in China, Jack Ma. is extending help to the United States by giving 500k testing kits and 1 million face masks to aid the country in fighting COVID-19.
The offer came the same day after US President Donald Trump declared a national emergency in order to use its funds. Previously, the Chinese billionaire also donated to countries like Japan, Korea, Italy, Iran and Spain, through his Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation.
China is the world’s biggest supplier of face mask and in January when its confirmed cases skyrocketed in numbers, China cut down its exports.
Through his institution’s Twitter account, the e-commerce tycoon shared that testing and proper gears are important in preventing the spread of the disease.
“Drawing from my own country’s experience, speedy and accurate testing and adequate protective equipment for medical professionals are most effective in preventing the spread of the virus.”
He believed that no country can b
eat the dis ease alone therefore we need to work together.
“The crisis presents a huge challenge to all humankind in a globalized world. The pandemic we face today can no longer be resolved by any individual country. Rather we need to comb
at the virus by working hand-in-hand.”
He also talked about eliminating the boundaries and sharing of knowledge, expertise and experience. He ended his message with the famous quote,” United we stand, divided we fall!”
President Trump admitted to undergoing COVID-19 testing after being exposed to a Brazilian delegation which later was tested positive. Trump remained symptom-free and was negative of the virus.
The United States has almost 3,000 confirmed cases as of Saturday.
