Ang Pagtatapos ng Isang Working Student sa Kolehiyo
My most awaited day is about to come by APRIL 10, 2013. I will be walking on the stage to get my diploma in College while the audience are clapping to the graduates. I bet, when I walked at the stage I will cry for joy because all my sacrifices is about to end and the goal that I set is ready to be grabbed.
My name is Charm, a Filipina, 23 years of age and a 4th year BS Psychology student from Our Lady of Fatima University that was 30 minutes away from our house. I am also currently working at BPO industry for 4 1/2 years now. There is where I get my tuition fee on my salary and allowances and of course to give it to my family.
HOW WAS IT? BEING A WORKING STUDENT?
The answer? is I really don’t know..;) Well, anyway, for a year I worked at BPO, but I felt that I wasn’t complete because I’m not yet graduate so I decided to go back to school while working. It’s really difficult to do both and to spend time with your family, I wasn’t able to give time to my lola when she’s still alive, by the way she passed away May 07, 2011 a day before Mother’s day, and I really y missed her so muccchhh..
HOW DO I STUDY?
I experienced not to sleep for 48 hours because when my workshift ends from 7 to 6am, right after I have to go to my morning class, I experienced also not to take a bathe:)), we’ll just understand I cannot wet my ahir because I don’t have sleep..puyat,. Every time I went to class, I really fell asleep but the good thing is my Barkada/classmates are always there for me. Sometimes if I wasn’t able to study during quizzes you know what to do:))) to make copy with my friends..lol..But of course during our major exams I am studying at the jeepney, bathroo, sleeping quarters and I also I put notes under my pillow when I am sleeping, you know why?? I might be dreaming the anwers..lol
I finished my 600 hours practicum for Clinical, Industrial and Educational and guess what I got UNO on my clinical grade that’s the highest score in practicum. I’m really happy when I found out.
HOUSE AND FAMILY?
You know what? Year 2012 was the most toughest year that I experienced. December 2012 my dad was brought to the hospital and he was diagnosed to have a Heart failure due to a complication from diabetes and he was advised to undergo BYPASS SURGERY, but where can we get million for the operation? we don’t even have money to pay our monthly bills in full, we can only afford it on half. I’m always thinking to join a contest where I can win this money instantly and to play LOTTO. I remembered during night I’m buying it at the center, I might be lucky and when so that I can spent it for the operation of my dad and for the tuition of my younger brother. I want to spent longer time with my parents until they grow old.
Prior to the confinement of my dad my family is not in good terms like for example when I got home I just say hi! to my dad and that’s it no follow up question. I don’t even try to ask if he already done eating his meals but know I understand that my family is the MOST IMPORTANT people in my life they are my strength and I’m sacrificing for them.
HOW CAN I SEE MYSELF 5 YEARS FROM NOW?
Whoaaahh..this is like a common question in an interview, We’ll I see myself working abroad and saving money so when I came back I am stable in finances and staying and living with my family and my dad.I will look for a company and job that I will become stable until I get old and has a good benefits that a company can give to all the employees working.
To all working students out there and family who is dealing with a sick family member. I would say be strong like I am doing right now and set a goal because no matter hardship we’ve been through let’s be positive that God is always with us. Always pray and have faith.
