From A to Z: The Choice between Roots or Wings
Fact is, you can’t have both roots and wings at the same time. Both can help you survive, both will keep you alive. Roots will keep you steady and grounded, knowing your place in this world. It’s reliable and secure. The security it provides also makes it predictable, and a bit limited. You can grow, but to only one direction. Living with roots require a lot of creativity, and less ambition. You gotta be more practical than passionate. You gotta learn to think more, silence instinct, and ignore impulse.
Wings will take you places, even to those you have never even dreamed of reaching. It will give you an ageless sense of adventure, and endless possibilities. It would never be difficult to feel happy and light, at any given time. It is flexible enough to allow growth and change, towards any path, it will go with you. However, the big chance to succeed is as big as the chance to fail. It requires risk taking, and faith, a very strong one at that. You gotta take more leaps of faith and at times throw caution into the wind. You gotta learn how to be brave and face all your fears.
Wings, can rest from flying, and hibernate, to get a steady pace for a change. However, roots can never grow wings.
Fact is, you can’t have both roots and wings at the same time. Just imagine how strange that would look. Just imagine how difficult being pulled towards opposite directions would be.
Roots, when you cut them down, would regrow. Wings, when broken, would mend. They would both survive on their own. But without both or either of them, would you?

NOTE: “From A to Z” is a work of fiction. It is a series of notes from a woman who is head-over-heels with a man who came along at the wrong place and time. Theirs is one they both know they cannot begin, but they do not want to end. And if you don’t have any starting point or finish line, how do you make sure of what to do next or which direction to go? She doesn’t want to make a cheater out of him, and he sees she doesn’t deserved to be a kept woman. These notes tell the story of how, no matter how strong emotions are controlled, denied, and avoided, it will remain. These notes tell the story of how two people may never be together, but it would never mean they would stop feeling for each other.
