EDSA to be named as Cory Aquino Avenue?

Ang sabi daw nila, pag naririnig nating mga Pilipino ang pangalang EDSA – isa lang ang pumapasok sa isip natin: People Power led by Cory.Pero ewan ko ba, kapag naririnig ko ang EDSA, ang laging pumapasok sa isip ko ay: Matinding Trapik, Rush Hour, Usok,
Siksikan sa MRT, at sari-sari pang bagay na ayoko sanang makita ng mga taga ibang bansa. Memorable ang EDSA sa buhay-byahe natin. Bakit ba kailangan pang baguhin?
Yes, Cory is a prominent figure of democracy. She is an icon of what the Filipinos are fighting for- the freedom to lead the government on their own. Pero parang nabababawan
ako sa pagpapangalan ng EDSA sa Cory Aquino Avenue. Imbes na EDSA, magiging CAA o “Aquino Avenue o “Cory”. Imagine ninyo ung mga konduktor ng dyip sinisigaw: “Cory! Cory! Oh ayan, aalis na. Sige pa, Pang-siyaman to. Ayan, Cory! Cory! Sige konting ipit pa, ayan. Sige isa pa! Cory! Cory!” Kulang na lang na i-flash nila yung LABAN sign at parang maaalala mo ulit ang gunita ng People Power sa araw-araw na bumibyahe ka. Ang punto ko lang, kung mababago ba ng pangalan ang kasalukuyang magulong sitwasyon ng
EDSA, then sige baguhin nila. Pero kung hanggang pangalan lang ang babaguhin nila, bakit hindi mo nila unahin ang pagbabago ng mas mga importanteng bagay sa EDSA? Mawawala din ang essence ng pangalan kung ganyan pa din kagulo ang mga kalsada, ang mga kaskaserong drayber o ang maitim na usok. There are matters more important than just naming a famous avenue into something else. Kawawa naman si Epifanio delos Santos, hindi na makikilala ng bagong henerasyon, samantalang si Cory naman kahit kanino mo tanungin, kilala ng lahat. Ang sabi ng mala-Conspiracy theorist kong kaklase, wala nga daw si Cory nun noong kasagsagan ng People Power. Sila Enrile at Honasan daw ang nangasiwa habang si Cory daw ay nagtatago sa Cebu. Kung totoo yun, dapat gawin na lang nilang “Ponce Enrile Avenue”. Baka mas matuwa pa nyan si Manong Johnny.

I don’t get this. Oligarchs are back and rising. tsk. First things first, the government should apply appropriate actions on the visible problems of EDSA, changing it’s name should not even be given considerations. Time consuming.
There are many who are so mesmerized by the suppose “Cory phenomenon” who voted for Pnoy that are getting frustrated. A lot went with the band wagon on Cory’s popularity that majority voted for him even if they know that he’ll not be a good President. So now yung sipsip na Congressman e gusto pa palitan ng pangalan pati EDSA. Alam kasi nya pag kumampi ka ke Pnoy eh you’re on good graces!!! The government has forgotten about a lot of problems of our country!! Puro pulitika!! I’m also blaming the media. Puro news on GMA na kinakawawa. They should headline where this country is going on the economy, the peace and order, etc. This government has to buckle up and work!! Hoy magtrabaho na kayo!!!
I’d say the avenue should still be named after Epifanio delos Santos for his accomplishments and and for being a notable historian. It would be unfair to name it after Cory while Noynoy is the current president because it is his mother.
Tama ang sinabi ng mga kaklase mo NicaMigz.. nasa Cebu si Cory nung kasagsagan ng People Power noon.. so ano ang essence ng pagpapangalan sa kanya ng EDSA… WALA!!!
people power is just a big sham and a scandal.

This is madness. We don’t even need to change the name of EDSA. The first thing that comes into my mind is not Cory Aquino or the EDSA revolution. THe first thing that comes to my mind is horrible traffic and I don’t want something named after a really amazing person to be like that…. This is BS.
Yung pagsasaayos ng trapiko sa EDSA ang baguhin, Wag ang pangalan. zzzz
