The Inverted Flag is a Non-Issue

There are times when I wonder what some of those in President Aquino’s Facebook have been sniffing lately. Or maybe it’s one of those herbal cures that makes some a bit nutty sometimes, like those laughing mushrooms. Today, there are those who are so MAD at the United States because some nitwit employee of the United Nations made the honest mistake of not noticing that the Philippine flag was displayed upside down (as in a state of war). Wow, now seems there is a LOT of angry people (could also be the staple noodles? hot dog envy? oops!) blaming either President Aquino for not seeing it or the United States where the UN conference was held.

It would be quirky if the President inspected flags during the conference. WHO DOES THINGS LIKE THAT? Can you imagine Barack Obama or Bibi Netanyahu looking over ALL the flags while a conference was going on? If any leader did this, he/she would be a laughing stock and may make the Guiness Book records for having the most intense “flag fetish”!

The US Embassy issued an apology. It was a not a malicious act. I believe that because it is perfectly legal to burn flags (even the US flag) in the USA as a sign of protest. Such an act is protected by the First Amendment. The right to wave the flag gives anyone an equal right to burn it in protest and itis done in the USA. If anyone in the USA had any malicious intent, they could have burned OUR flag and that would be perfectly legal too. It’s called democracy. (Ask the tea party or coffee party enthusats.. whatever preference you may have anyway).

Now some of these very angry crazies have suggested that we declare war on America. Now, that’s a reaction worst that what we got from Hongkong for that bus hostage incident… remember that? No one was killed here and it was just a flag.. Yeah, I said “just a flag” (no one was killed, no one was insulted, we got the boodle called “aid”), so what are some people bitching about? This “madness” is NOT nationalism, it’s called INSANITY.

Thinking about it though, it might be a good idea to play on with this insanity and declare war against the USA. Something like that would give those with dual citizenship an advantage. We would end up like Iraq and Afghanistan and that would solve the overpopulation problem! Goodbye poverty.. and there would be no need to pass the Reproductive Health Bill. Kids can play with condoms! Sex education would be a MUST for eight graders and there would be LESS tolerance for the Catholic Church that seems to have a penchant for dictating government policy. Maybe even gay marriages would be allowed.. how cool is that? Oh and English would have to be spoken by everyone… so it’s NOT a bad idea really to succumb to this madness of some who suggest we declare war on America.

The only problem is that if these crazies bring their “balisongs” and “tiradors” (okay, and their “paltiks” too) America may be too WISE and decide these people may not be worth going to war with. Instead, they may import psychiatrists, more Prozacs and that would be the END of a rather GREAT idea. ((sighs))
