  • DEFINITELY FILIPINO BLOG NETWORK

This blog and the Facebook Page was born from the idea that we should further our culture regardless of where we are, or where we were born. It is meant to be interactive so everyone can learn from each other. Around May 2009, I was browsing Facebook’s other Filipino Groups and Pages and realized that there wasn’t really a place in Facebook where Filipinos can mingle and meet others. These Groups/Pages, though promoting Filipino culture and pride, did not have interaction between its members. Their members would simply visit the group in the beginning, then forget about it afterwards and seldom return. This is the basis and philosophy behind this Page. It’s the place to come, learn, interact and belong…. We were founded July 27, 2009 and has since grown close to 1.1 million members (as of November 2010) – the largest culturally-related Filipino group on the internet!

    • The PBA Opening That It Used To Be
If you’ve lived in the 80’s, you will agree with me that it was the glory days of the premier and Asia’s first professional basketball league, the PBA. It was those times that basketball ruled television ratings even if it’s aired on PTV4 or IBC13. PBA has been a household brand with families all gathered in their living rooms watching the beloved basketball […]
    • Good Food And Good People
The earthy smell reminded me that I was ankle deep in mud, the sticky soil clinging heavily to my rain boots, making each step a challenge rather than a mindless task. A miscalculated step could get my face planted in the mud with a scythe buried deep in my midsection or in my chest, depending on how much I flail from the time I lose my balance to when I hit […]
    • Forsaken Missives: Like a Comet
She is like a comet. Whenever she comes around my entire world, as I know it, literally spins. She first came some years ago. Turning my world upside down, never have I seen such spirit in a woman. And her beauty; blinding like the sun. Her looks and smile can disarm any man. We shared many happy moments … defining moments that haunted my memory. There was n […]

    • Homosexuality is Not a Disease
The thing about Homosexuality First of all, I want to clarify to all of you that I am not a homosexual or a transgender or whatever, I just want to express my opinion to this century-old dilemma. “Ako’y isang sirena, kahit anong sabihin nila ako’y ubod ng ganda”. A line from Gloc 9’s hit single “Sirena”. I liked the song, honestly and I found it as an eye-op […]
    • Separating Religion From Governance Can Lead to Progress!
Junior Layug Cagadas published an article at DefinitelyFilipino Blog entitled “Why We Filipinos Live in a Sick Society”. In his short commentary, he outlines several reasons why the Philippines is such in a bad state. Among those reasons are corruption, poverty, crime, and violence. He did not mention, however, what I consider to be another hindrance to prog […]
